A special delivery is arriving at Kids Discovery Factory! In a collaborative effort with Team EARTH and senior engineering students from Purdue University Indianapolis, the museum is thrilled to announce the installation of a new renewable energy demonstration “Solar Splash.” This interactive demonstration invites visitors to explore how solar panels absorb sunlight to generate power, which then operates a captivating water feature.

The interactive demonstration will be officially installed and unveiled by the senior engineering students on December 20th at Kids Discovery Factory. To celebrate, the museum will host special open hours that Friday the 20th from 4 PM to 6 PM, offering free admission to the public. Guests are encouraged to interact with the solar-powered demonstration and enjoy all the engaging exhibits the museum has to offer.

Senior engineering students from Purdue University Indianapolis and members of Team EARTH will be present at the event to engage with visitors, answer questions, and discuss the impact of renewable energy. Sister Claire, member of Team EARTH shared, "I am thrilled with the new museum activity knowing for sure that ‘a child will lead us’ into the renewable energy future.”

"We are delighted to partner with Purdue University Indianapolis engineering students and Team EARTH to bring this pioneering renewable energy demonstration activity to our community," said Emili Uden, Director of Kids Discovery Factory. "Solar Splash provides a hands-on learning experience that we hope will inspire curiosity about renewable energy among children and families alike."

Refreshments will be available and free-will donations accepted at the door to support future educational programs and exhibits at the museum.
